A four-story, 107-room hotel is planned for West Hewett Road near U.S. Highway 98 in Santa Rosa Beach Florida will be a Home2 Suites. The St. Joe Company is the developer for the project. Groundbreaking for the hotel is anticipated late this year, with opening of the all-suite extended-stay facility planned for in 2023. St. Joe will also manage the hotel. St. Joe is a real estate development, management and operating company with assets across Northwest Florida. Those assets include a number of hotels either in operation or under construction as the company works toward developing a portfolio comprising almost 1,200 rooms in the area. Patrick Murphy is St. Joe’s senior vice president of hospitality.

A proposed nine-story, 56-room hotel and resort is planned to replace the current 42-room Schooner Hotel in Tampa Florida. The redeveloped Schooner Resort is closer to construction after a board of commissioners meeting that led to a vote permitting zoning changes to accommodate the plans. Proposed as a nine-story, 56-room hotel with a second-floor restaurant and rooftop bar, the new resort is set to be the tallest hotel in Madeira Beach’s two-mile strip of beachfront. It will stand on a stretch of four- and five-story condos on the west side of Gulf Boulevard that looks out over the beach, where the current 42-room Schooner Hotel stands. Across the street, the developers are planning additional parking and 6,000 square feet of retail space as part of the plan. Developer Kevin Bowden, Jeff Beggins and Jim Beggins of Madeira Beach and Bowden plan to break ground next year. The also own the nearby Cambria Suites Hotel.

Hotel developer KMS Development is planning to build a 20 story Hilton waterfront hotel along Sinatra Drive in Hoboken New Jersey. The property would rise 270 feet and be located behind Hoboken’s Frank Sinatra Post Office. Designed by Cooper Carry Associates, the 349-room hotel will feature a second-floor restaurant and bar overlooking 1st Street plus a 959-square-foot ground-floor retail space fronting Sinatra Drive. The hotel’s top floor will boast another public bar and event space that includes a 2,899-square-foot outdoor terrace, while the 18th and 19th floors will host meeting space plus a ballroom.

City Planners have approved plans for a micro-hotel project in Santa Monica, California at the existing Shore Hotel property that will include 34 beds. Sunshine Enterprises requested approval of a 4,000 square foot micro-hotel and asked for flexibility in design standards related to ceiling height. The proposal also asked to convert 580 square feet of existing floor space to create an ancillary nine-seat Café with a patio and alcohol service, convert 800 square feet into a breakfast room with an ancillary 80-seat restaurant with a bar, patio and live entertainment, as well as expand the hotel amenity to include a personal on-site masseuse.

Developers are proposing a Hyatt Place hotel at the south end of Main Street in Half Moon Bay, California. The Hyatt Place project, is being designed by AXIS/GFA Architecture and Design. The work coincides with, but is not related to, the city’s construction of the intersection at Main Street, Highway 1 and Higgins Canyon Road. The proposed project encompasses three parcels: the 5-acre triangular undeveloped parcel on Main Street, the 1.45-acre Ford dealership and its 1.25-acre adjacent parking lot. The hotel’s floor area would be 67,000 sf with 102 guestrooms. The guest rooms are provided in two buildings, a three-story northern building and a two-story southern building. Most of the guest rooms will be in the northern building while the southern will have a lobby and conference rooms. Plans also include 108 parking spots. Developer Greg Jamison is proposing the project.

Developers are planning to build a five star hotel near the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts on Wyandotte Street. The 145 guestroom luxury hotel would cost $63.5 million to build and be named the Bravo Hotel. Eric Hotze is the project’s developer located between 16th and Wyandotte Streets in Kansas City Missouri. Hotel Bravo is tentatively scheduled to go before a city council committee for a hearing later this month.

The Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians and Red Hawk Casino began construction on the Red Hawk Casino hotel in Placerville California. The hotel ground-breaking launches the first physical expansion of Red Hawk Casino since its opening in December 2008. The Red Hawk Casino hotel is developed and designed by Williams and Paddon Architects and Planners, and constructed by Level 10 Construction and Avanti Builders Inc. The nearly 120,000-square-foot hotel will feature five stories with 150 guest rooms, including 25 suites. Additionally, the Red Hawk Casino hotel will offer guests a stunning outdoor terrace with a pool, along with a fitness center. The owners of the River shopping center in Rancho Mirage California are proposing to build a four story 110 guestroom hotel with an outdoor pool, two outdoor areas, 125 parking spaces and other associated improvements landscaping and a new entry from Las Palmas Drive. The hotel would be built on the northeast side of the River parking lot. The project faces opposition from the city commission but the owners are starting to work on improvements in order to get the project approved.
